Recent CSU Honors College Grad Receives National Phi Kappa Phi Fellowship
Joel Roop-Eckart (B.S. ’16), a new Columbus State University Honors College alumnus, was recently selected as a national Phi Kappa Phi Fellow and will take home a $5,000 prize. Phi Kappa Phi is the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines. This is the third year in a row a Columbus State University Honors College student has received this recognition.
An Earth and Space Science major focusing on Geology and minoring in Mathematics, Joel also received recognition the Phi Kappa Phi Senior Award at Columbus State as well as the Academic Recognition Award.
Joel was selected as one of three Georgia students to be sponsored by Georgia Rotary to study at the International Summer School program in Oslo, Norway at the University of Oslo for Summer 2016. Joel will be pursuing his PhD in GeoScience at Penn State beginning Fall 2016.
